And they did humble themselves even in the depths of humility; and they did cry mightily to God; yea, even all the day long did they cry unto their God that he would deliver them out of their afflictions.

Mosiah 21:14

Studying the Book of Mormon has been so rewarding for me at different levels.  Studying with the help of the Come, Follow Me manual, and following along with Tyler and Taylor from Book of Mormon Central has been even more joyous!  Have you felt that way?  There is so much information to learn about, and yet Tyler and Taylor make it so easy to understand as we watch their videos.

During last week’s studies, we learned about the critical messages the Lord had for Abinadi to convey to wicked  Noah and his evil priests.  He gave precise details and warnings as to what will happen to the people if they would not repent.  Our prophets today have done the same thing for us through the years.  One example of this is the Proclamation on the Family.

During our studies, we were also reminded of the patterns Satan uses to persuade people to avoid repenting and how associating with those who are a negative influence can make a negative impact on our lives.

During this week’s lesson, we will learn about Alma and how Abinadi’s words influenced him.   We will see how true, godly sorrow and repentance can change one’s life and how positive influences can change the lives of other people.

As you watch the video presented below, think about these questions:

  1. What do the covenants that you made at baptism mean to you?
  2. How does being unified with other righteous members of the Church inspire you to be a better member?
  3. How do prophets strengthen your faith in the warnings and counsel they give us, and what is your commitment to follow their words?
  4. How can the Lord make your burdens light?
  5. How can you put your trust in God regardless of the situation you may be in?

When studying the scriptures this week, let’s find ways in which we can apply these lessons to our own lives.

We would love to hear from you!  What did you learn more about this week?  How has this lesson inspired you?

Stay tuned each week as we post the new releases of these videos.
